We will help you settle into your new community and make a plan to reach your education, employment, housing and health goals. We’ll help you build the life you want with free multilingual support and information (often called “settlement services”). Our newcomer support workers have gone through the immigration journey themselves and understand what you’re going through.
They will start with a one-on-one meeting to understand your needs and hopes for you and your family in Canada.
Together, you will create a customized settlement plan to help you and your family get the resources you need for education, housing, health care and employment.
Here are the different ways DIVERSEcity newcomer support workers can help you:
1. Be your guide as you navigate local systems such as housing, health care, public school, recreation services, language services and jobs.
2. Provide information, resources and workshops on topics related to life in Canada including your rights.
3. Help you fill out government applications such as citizenship application, Canada Child Tax Benefit and income assistance.
4. Connect you with free programs and services including employment programs, job search help, English languages services, children & family programs, youth programs, mental health, counselling, seniors services, LGBTQ+, volunteering, food support and more!
5. Help you connect with your community and make new friends.
6. Be there to listen and support you.
