In honour of Anti-Racism Week (May 26 to June 1, 2026), the Delta Local Immigration Partnership premiered Unheard VOICES last week at the Delta Youth Hub. It is a powerful video podcast created and led by the Delta Youth Newcomer Advisory Table.
Anti-Racism Week is a time to reflect on the systemic and personal impacts of racism, challenge biases and take action toward equity. But too often, the voices of those affected including newcomer and racialized youth are left unheard.
This initiative began with the formation of the Delta Youth Newcomer Advisory Table (DYNAT), which began meeting in January 2026. DYNAT brings together newcomer and racialized youth aged 16-25 who are passionate about making Delta a more inclusive community. The group expressed a desire to share their voices through a creative outlet: a video podcast.
With funding from Immigration Refugee Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the incredible team at Burst Creative Group, we turned that vision into reality.
Unheard VOICES captures the real perspectives of newcomer and racialized youth, highlighting their experiences, resilience and hopes for belonging in Delta.
Let’s commit to creating safer, fairer and more inclusive spaces not just during Anti-Racism Week, but every day.
