Supporting newcomers who provide care for senior friends or relatives. Are you a newcomer caring for a senior (55+) friend or family member? Let’s talk one-on-one about your needs as a family caregiver for a senior. Time and time again, we hear sentiments like: “I didn’ know I was a caregiver until I found this program. Caring for others can be a lot of work, time and effort, and our program reminds you to care for yourself, too!”

We are here to help:
– Provide information about the care system in Canada
– Connect you with services that help you care for the seniors in your life
– Help you make appointments to access services in the care sector
– Connect you with respite services
– Provide ongoing emotional support

The program also offers:
– Free, informative workshops to help you understand how to navigate the heath care system or find services in your community
– Skills training workshops
– Community kitchen sessions where you’ll learn how to make healthy and budget-friendly meals
– In-person support groups led by a clinical counsellor (available in English and Punjabi)
– In-person and virtual support groups led by trained staff (available in English and Punjabi)
– One-on-one clinical counselling support, in person or by phone (available in English and Punjabi
– Free healthy snacks during programming
– Transportation support may be available
– Home visits with caregivers who are unable to attend in person”
